Donte DiVincenzo Sets New York Knicks' Single-Season 3-Pointer Record

Amidst an ugly first half against the San Antonio Spurs, Donte DiVincenzo made New York Knicks history.

Donte DiVincenzo offered a historic silver lining to the New York Knicks' dreariest first half in quite some time.

As the Knicks fell behind 74-57 to the lowly San Antonio Spurs, DiVincenzo sank his 242nd three-pointer of the season, setting a new franchise mark for most in one year. Evan Fournier previously set the record with 241 in 2021-22.

Thus continues an eventful week for DiVincenzo, who previously posted the Knicks' best single-game tally with 11 in Monday's win over the Detroit Pistons, which also saw him earn his first 40-point game. Entering Friday night play, DiVincenzo ranked fifth in the NBA in successful three-pointers at 239. The Villanova alum is currently working through his first season on a four-year, $46 million contract bestowed over the summer. That deal is looking like a bigger bargain with each passing game, as DiVincenzo has not only become a staple in the Knicks' starting but he's also averaging a career-best 14.9 points a game.

DiVincenzo was one of the Knicks' few bright spots in the first half, as he and Jalen Brunson are the only New Yorkers in double figures so far. The former Wildcats are a combined 13-of-23 (Brunson with 21 points and DiVincenzo with 11) from the field, but the rest of the team is 12-of-26. With a win and a Cleveland loss to Philadelphia on Friday, the Knicks could expand their lead for third place on the Eastern Conference playoff bracket.
