Dallas Mavs Trying to Achieve Longest Win Streak Since 2011 vs. Golden State Warriors

The Dallas Mavericks haven't won at least eight games in a row since their 2011 championship season, but they'll have a chance to do that on Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors.

The Dallas Mavericks are the hottest team in the NBA heading into Tuesday night's matchup with the Golden State Warriors, having won 11 of their last 12 games, and they're trying to do something that hasn't been done in Big D since 2011.

With a win tonight, the Mavs would extend their seven-game win streak to eight, which would be the longest streak the team has had since Dirk Nowitzki's championship season 13 years ago.

As sustainable as Dallas' recent success seems to be, it will still be a challenge to extend its win streak against a Warriors team that will be playing at home and have won four consecutive games of their own. Although they aren't the same dynasty team that struck fear into the league over the last decade, Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson still deserve respect as four-time champions.

The Mavs have championship dreams for this season, and being able to take care of the Warriors in order to sweep a five-game road trip would be yet another big step in the right direction. Dallas currently has sole possession of the No. 5 seed in the West, and a simple way to make sure that doesn't change is to keep winning.

“Just understanding what’s at stake, and being able to talk to them about what we’re playing for,” Mavs head coach Jason Kidd said. “You see the defensive side has gotten better. We still, as a group, feel we can be better. Offensively, guys are cheering for one another, make or miss.”

Luka Doncic is making a late-season MVP push, Kyrie Irving always seems to take it up a notch when playing vs. Curry, and the Mavs are 12-0 when Daniel Gafford starts at center alongside those two. As long as the Mavs bring the proper energy with them to San Fransisco, they should be able to keep their winning ways going before finally getting to go home for a three-game homestand.
