The Atlanta Falcons are in need of a starting cornerback opposite A.J. Terrell - and they're doing extensive work on one of the options in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, a potential top-15, pick, has an official 30 visit scheduled with the Falcons this week, according to Bleacher Report.

Mitchell played in the Reese's Senior Bowl, where all prospects meet with each team at least once, and he also met formally with the Falcons in early March at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"It went good," Mitchell said of the Combine meeting. "Went in, just talked a little about background and then it was mostly just football. So, it went good."

The 6-0, 195-pound Mitchell earned All-American honors in 2023 after ranking second in the country in passes defended (19) and pass breakups (18). He was a first-team All-Mid-American Conference selection each of the past two years.

Mitchell, 22, concluded his college career with six interceptions, five of which came in 2022, and defended 52 passes, illustrating his ball skills.

After a strong showing at the Senior Bowl, Mitchell kept his stock trending upwards at the Combine, running a 4.33 40-yard dash while recording a 38" vertical jump and 10'2" broad jump. He also pumped out 20 reps on the bench press.

Mitchell offers the size, speed and skill to be an intriguing first-round option for Atlanta, be it at No. 8 overall or in a trade down.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, speaking March 26 at the annual league meetings, spoke highly of Atlanta's cornerbacks surrounding Terrell, including Clark Phillips III, Dee Alford and Mike Hughes.

But Morris also foreshadowed the Falcons adding youth to their cornerbacks room this fall.

"We'll add some more people to that room, some more young pieces, but what I've seen on tape, I've been excited," Morris said. "I know it's an area of need for us, so to speak. But those guys played pretty well last year when you go back and look at the tape and how they played out there."

Several talented cornerbacks exist in the draft, including the Alabama duo of Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry.

But the Falcons have spent considerable time with Quinyon Mitchell - and will continue doing so in the lead-up to April 25.
